My Darling Clementine, in 4 piece mode, with Mr. Al Cook (pedal steel) and Mr. Al Gare (double bass) will be touring Southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland in February, ending with a show in The Netherlands on March 1st. “The hills (and also the Dutch flat lands) will be alive with the sound of heartache.”
We are excited to announce the first MDC shows on the west coast of the USA & Canada. 10 shows, kicking off March 26th though to April 7th, from Vancouver to San Francisco.
We are also delighted to announce a whole host of UK dates for “The Other Half”, our new spoken-word and song collaboration with best selling crime writer Mark Billingham. First up are 2 festivals in April; The Laugharne Weekend in South Wales and the Aye Write! Glasgow Book Festival. The show will then tour, on and off, throughout 2015.
SOUND & VISION:
… and talking of “The Other Half”, we have now cut an album of the show, featuring wonderful guest appearances from David Morrissey and Graham Parker in speaking roles, along with our very own Florence King (it’s a family affair!) The cd, audio book, download and vinyl will be released on June 4th via Little Brown. It features 8 songs (2 brand new ones and 6 new stripped-down arrangements of previously released tracks.)
There will also be a press/industry launch taking place in May in London. Date and location of this is still TBC but free tickets for this will be available to all members of The Departure Lounge. Those wishing to attend simply email us HERE. Not subscribed The Departure Lounge yet? Click HERE for more information.
Also due soon, a little later than we had hoped (our apologies), is the My Darling Clementine DVD compilation “Matinee Idle”. It contains all the promo videos to date, plus a selection of live footage recorded in Europe and N. America over the past 2 years. Don’t change channel, don’t touch that dial, more info very soon.
Thanks to all of you who have been emailing and asking when the next album, the new album, will be out. We are working on it. Great plans in store and hoping it will be out later in the year. We promise it will be worth the wait.
THE KING’S SPEECH:
We have been mouthing off of late. Must be the effect of working with such a fine orator as Mark Billingham. Follow this link to a recent interview given to the excellent Lonesome Highway webzine in Dublin last November. And check out next month’s UnCut magazine too, for our musings on the current state of country music. Yikes!
Also, we are very pleased to announce that the brand new MWK web site (well, a revitalized and rejuvenated site) is now open for business HERE. Do drop by and also check out the solo back catalogue that’s all now up on You-Tube. Lou’s solo work to follow soon.
