Hello friends! Here’s what’s going on and what’s coming up:
Firstly, a huge thanks to all of you who came to the January and February shows – Part 2 of The Reconciliation? tour. We had some wild nights (inside and out!) so thanks for braving the elements to be there. We all had a blast and hope you did too. Here is a clip from our appearance in Glasgow at Celtic Connections and a couple of photos from the show in Cambridge. Thanks to Steve Sparrow for these!!
And don’t forget, if there is anywhere in your part of the world that you would like to see us come and play, please email our agent David Boardman with your suggestions – email@example.com
We are delighted to announce that there will be some new music very soon. We have just completed 4 songs for a ‘vinyl-only’, ’10 inch EP’, to be released for Record Store Day on April 19th. This will only be available from your local independent record shop so you will need to head down there for your copy. Buying music from independents rather than from chains or on-line helps keeps these shops open, and we need them more than ever. We will announce the track list and put up the art on the MDC web site soon.
No, we have not split up, but come April 21 we will also release new single. Thanks to all of you who sent your suggestions for what it should be. In the end, we could not decide and it seems neither could you so we are actually going with a Double A Side of No Matter What Tammy Said and King Of The Carnival. And yes there will be new viedos to go with each of them Here is a still from the video for ‘Tammy’, shot this week.
Heartache has been floating through the airways in thee past few weeks. Check out this recent session we did for Amazing Radio.
More sessions to be announced very soon!
Also, a date for the diary, on March 7th Michael will be chatting to Ricky Ross on BBC Scotland’s Another Country about the late Townes Van Zandt, who would have been 70 that day.

The MDC January sales are now over, and a number of items are now old out of. Some will come back in, some won’t, but for a full update on what MDC merch you can order, go take a look at our store.
THE DEPARTURE LOUNGE
We are about to open the doors to a new members club, well…. we are thinking about it! The idea is to offer membership to “The Departure Lounge” which, for an annual subscription, will entitle you to exclusive items not available anywhere else including exclusive cds / vinyl / downloads, 2 fanzines a year, discount on merchandise, and a members only private club night, once a year where MDC will perform Like the sound of it? If so, send an email to Brighthelmstonepromotions@gmail.com and we will draw up a list. Once we get enough names, then the doors will open.
BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
2014 continues to be a bad year for losing some truly great musical icons. Following on from the news of the death of Phil Everly in January, we we saddened to hear about the death of 2 more hugely infuential artsists. The great Ray Price – the original “Mr Heartache” (who Michael had the honor of playing a show with in Texas a few years back) and arguably the most important purveyor of political song and social comment of the 20th Century, the great Pete Seeger. We will be honoring these guys in song at some of the upcoming shows. Yes, we will have a hootenanny to close the evening. Come along… and be in good voice.
OK, that’s all for now. Keep well, keep warm, keep dry, and don’t let us catch your crying. See you all soon
Michael & Lou
