Welcome to the Summer 2015 newsletter. New album, new merch, new projects, festivals, solo shows, an Autumn tour. Lots going on, so lets get to it.
THE OTHER HALF
The album of “The Other Half”, our collaboration with the acclaimed and best-selling crime writer Mark Billingham is now out. We are delighted with how this has come about and turned out, and it is already garnering kind words from radio and press alike.
“A convincing world of barflies, peeling paint and characters on bar stools with very dark secrets.”
– BBC Radio 4 Front Row
“The songs of My Darling Clementine always have an interesting story to tell, and to base a work of fiction around them is inspired.”
– Country Music People ****4/5
“Billingham’s evocative and mysterious narrative is interspersed by seven superb My Darling Clementine songs. Brave and imaginative”
– Maverick ****4/5
“It’s well worth setting aside an hour to share the bruised, broken and eventually redeemed lives the words and music so engagingly evoke. Now for the mini-series.”
– Folk Radio UK
For those of you who missed it, our interview on BBC Radio 4 Front Row is still on the i-player and can be heard HERE
. For the MDC and Mark Billingham section go to 21.10 (unless you want to listen to the segments about 3D sex and also the modernization of Harpsichord!)

We want to see everyone wearing them at the upcoming shows.
MICHAEL SOLO SHOWS AND NEW BOOK OF LYRICS
Away from MDC for a moment – Michael will be playing 2 shows in July by way of tribute to two old friends who were also two of the greatest ever songwriters. The Songs of Jackie Leven & Townes Van Zandt shows take place in Winchester and Birmingham. Michael will be joined by long term Jackie collaborator and musician of the very highest order, Mike Cosgrave. Details HERE.
We are excited to be announcing a new project via UnBound Publishing. A new book – “100,000 Words – the lyrics of Michael Weston King.”
Not just the words to the songs, but also notes, annotations, the back story to each one, and even the chords. It’s going to be a lovely packaged thing, really well put together.
Click on the link to see how Unbound works and to read an extract or 2 from the book. There is also a brand new song on there recorded in Michael’s office.
We would be delighted if you choose to be part of it, and/or share with others.

Lots of things get posted on there that don’t make the official web site or into newsletters, especially tour photos and blogs. It’s the best way to keep keep in touch and bang up-to-date for the latest news on all things My Darling Clementine. Bring your friends too!
OK, that’s all for new folks, we will see you soon in person hopefully…. in a field, in a marquee, in a club or in a theatre. If you can’t make a show, we will see you on-line
But wherever you are and whatever you do, always…. love your Other Half.
