On May 18th there will be a press/industry launch taking place in London at The Hospital Club in Covent Garden. Some free tickets for this will be available to all members of The Departure Lounge. Those wishing to attend, simply email us HERE.

It is not all The Other Half this year – the band will be appearing at Port Elliot, Headlander and other festivals (including a big one) this summer, and there will be more MDC shows announced for later in the year both in the UK and also Sweden, Germany and The Netherlands.

Here’s a photo taken in Vienna from the recent tour of Austria back in February:

The My Darling Clementine DVD compilation “Matinee Idle” is getting closer. Release is scheduled for June. It will contain all the promo videos to date plus a selection of live footage recorded in Europe and N. America over the past 2 years.

Thanks to all of you who have been emailing and asking when the next album, the new studio album will be out. We are working on it. Lots of new songs written and great plans in store for who will be involved in making it. It will be worth the wait. Quality not quantity is our motto.

OK, a wave of generosity and kind spiritedness has swept over us. A pre-summer sale is happening right now at the MDC store – reduced prices on vinyl, shirts. posters and even bundles. Go grab a bargain HERE.

Away from MDC for a moment – Michael will be playing 2 shows in July by way of tribute to two old friends who were also two of the greatest songwriters. The Songs of Jackie Leven & Townes Van Zandt shows take place in Winchester and Birmingham. Details HERE.

Thanks to all who wrote, posted and sent messages to Lou while she was stricken down in the USA. For those asking, she contractyed a nasty virus called Erysipelas. Google it!! After some seriously strong ant-biotics and 4 days re-cooperation by the seaside (thanks to Gary and Vicky for the cottage in Long Beach, Washington) she was able to play the last 2 American shows in Santa Cruz and Eugene, and then hit the ground running once back home.

If not doing so already, please head over to the MDC Facebook and Twitter accounts;
Facebook / Twitter and go like / follow us. Lots of things get posted on there that don’t make the official web site or into newsletters, especially tour photos and blogs. It’s the best way to keep in touch and bang up-to-date for the latest news on all things My Darling Clementine. Bring your friends too!

North By North West Tour Update

Although she is improving slightly Lou is still not well enough to perform so consequently tonight’s show in Port Townsend and tomorrow in Vancouver have been cancelled. Friday’s show in Eugene and Sunday’s in Santa Cruz will go ahead as will MDC’s live appearance and session on Sleepy Johns Sunday morning radio show on K-Pig.

Lou thanks everyone for the get-well messages and support. They have been a great comfort. Here is a word from the English patient……

“Hello and thank you to everyone for all the well wishes. It’s been really appreciated and each kind message helps to sooth me a tiny bit.

This has certainly not been the planned trip. I hadn’t factored in any hospitals, any cancelled shows, or my face swelling to three times its size. I am in hiding to protect the innocent.

Meanwhile my husband and daughter look on with brave expressions of pity. Michael is a great nurse and Mabel is on swelling reduction observation duty. (Where would I be without them).

Feeling pretty sorry for myself, guilty, stupid, depressed and to be honest, scared. I THINK my swollen face is staring to reduce, I THINK the dizziness and trembling has gone, I THINK I’m through the worst. I had 3 rounds of IV drugs in hospital and now I’m on a serious tablet regime holed up here in Long Beach. Yes, I know there are worst places to be ill. I saw 2 bald eagles yesterday! (No comments please) But a sick bed is a sick bed, wherever.

Anyway, I’ve done a rewrite for the imaginary gigs:

I’ll put my hair back behind my (swollen) ears.
Out of my (tiny pig like) eyes
I won’t leave a (sweat encrusted) strand
And you can watch the (long distance mountainous) running of my (stinging) tears
And you can try to understand.

Ok, enough self pity.

Love and peace to y’all,
