33 and a 1/3 RPM;

We are thrilled to announce that the new album, “Still Testifying” will be released on June 2nd by CRS /  Continental Record Services.

It was recorded in London last year, between May and September, and produced by Neil Brockbank, who worked with us on How Do You Plead?  It features the core of the brilliant MDC live band (Martin Belmont, Neil Bullock, Alan Cook, Kevin Foster, Liam Grundy) plus many other amazing guest musicians.

As a taster for the album, and ahead of the North American tour starting on Friday,  here is a Stateside themed video, shot in Oregon and Washington State for the song Eugene.

Pre-order the album now and get a free download of this song from CRS.

Those of you have already pre-ordered via the MDC web site, your copies of the album will be with you by mid-late May.

DANCEHALL – America;

It has been too long a spell without any shows –  the last one being back in October, so, it is an understatement to say we are looking forward to getting back out on the road.

Firstly…  starting next week, 16 shows in America and Canada. Some of these will be with friends and kindred spirits in the shape of Dale Watson & Ray Benson in New York, Johnny Dowd in Ithaca, & The Rizdales in London, Ont.

… then back home,  touring from May onwards. A mix of acoustic and full band shows. We are really looking forward to playing these new songs live for you.

Tickets are now on sale for all UK concerts.

Early bird tickets are available for the album launch on Wednesday 7th June. These are very limited so early booking is advised.

Friends, we really need your support at ALL of these shows. It is tough out there, with so many acts on the road, all trying our best make a living in the face of declining album sales so PLEASE, do book early and spread the word when and where you can.

You know a great night is always delivered when MDC get on stage, so bring along a friend or 2. Have them converted to the “church of heartache”

In between the US and UK tours there will be 2 MWK solo shows.

Friday 28th April – Otley, Korks
Michael Weston King – “The Songs of Townes Van Zandt & Jackie Leven”

Thursday 4th May – Birmingham, Kitchen Garden Cafe
Michael Weston King – “My Back Pages”

More info here.

Also, just a few of these DVDs left. Contains all the promo videos to date plus a selection of live footage recorded in the UK and Europe.

As they used to say in all the worst commercials, “HURRY NOW WHILE STOCKS LAST!”

An interesting article about the state of “country” music in Europe, however we define country music. It is worth a read, and we get a name-check.

Some very sad news reached us in February, when we heard of the passing, on Feb 12th, of Robert Fisher. Robert was a friend, an ally, a collaborator.  A man for whom music was a vocation and who lived and loved his life accordingly. Here is a recent post describing our friendship.

With his band Willard Grant Conspiracy,  he left behind an incredible body of work. For those not familiar, here is a fine article, and a playlist, to get you started.

OK, that all the news that is fit to print for now. Do stay in touch, especially via Facebook or Twitter. We will be posting our on-the-road adventures up there, so come and join us.

Thanks all.

What’s Another Year?

Hello friends

Our best to you for 2017 and to quote the ‘great’ Johnny Logan (Google him!), “What’s another year?” Well, lets hope, in many ways, it as a vast improvement on the last one.

One thing you can be assured of is that our new album is on it’s way. At last! Those of you who saw the shows in October will have heard some of the new songs, and we are really excited to share them with you all.

We are closing in on the final draft of the new album art work. There are just under 2 weeks left before it is signed off so, if any of you still wish to be part of the album, by pledging towards it and in doing so, have your name, or that of loved one credited on the sleeve,  just click here to do so. THANK YOU.

There are free concert tickets too for all who get involved and everyone who does will also go into a draw for a free house concert. Yes, MDC in your living room!

While on tour in Holland in October we did a photo session for the album with the renowned Dutch photographer Marco Bakker. You can see one of his shots at the top of the website, and here is Marco in action.

Prices have been kept low in the MDC emporium until the end of the month, so, if you need that perfect something to brighten up a dark January, click here.

Two items to bring to your attention:

Michael Weston King Guitar String Bracelet

The good people at Basement Tapes design very stylish bracelets incorporating used guitar strings. If you want a little bit of MDC/MWK around your wrist, check this out. Vintage brass clasp and warm 1970’s brown leather. Something that certainly would have been worn by the main character in I No Longer Take Pride… before his downfall!

 Handpicked CD

Copies are also now available of the MWK compilation CD Handpicked.

Michael Weston King - Handpicked

It was released to tie-in with the European solo tour last November/December. 13 songs taken from 13 different albums from over the past 20 years . You can order via the MDC site or the MWK site. The album includes 3 My Darling Clementine songs, and all are signed and personalised.
